Algorithm to Serve You the photos on Instagram

... Editorial Team

Instagram seems to be moving to an algorithms based phto feed system against the previously used reverse-chronology. Instagram today said that their photo feeds “will soon be ordered to show the moments [it believes] you will care about the most.”  Up until now, Instagram organized its feeds in reverse-chronological order. Thereby meaning that the most recently uploaded photos will appear at the top on your feed.

Instagram parent company, Facebook introduced algorithmic ordering to its News Feed back in 2009. For now, Instagram is testing the change with a small subset of users, the NYT reports.

Like Facebook, Instagram aims to show the users stuff they care about as frequently as possible which will allow it to better monetise the platform. Experts also feel that the latest move could also be prompted by reports of falling engagem, ent levels on the platform.
