At least 564 students were placed in just a week at the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras’s (IIT-M) final placements drive which was earlier rescheduled due to the Chennai floods.

The elite institution said core engineering sectors like civil, mechanical and electrical, research and development and public sector units were the top sectors in offering jobs to IIT-M students. These sectors altogether offered 47% of the jobs so far.
In electrical engineering, among 182 registered students, 118 have already been placed and in civil engineering, 69 of the 137 students have got placed. In mechanical engineering, 111 of the 219 registered students got jobs in the first week of placement, the institution said.
