Dr. Dre Planning a Tour With Snoop Dogg and Eminem

... Time:

Dr. Dre is enjoying a sort of renaissance: the 50-year-old’s third and latest album, Compton, has earned acclaim since its release in August, as has the biopic that accompanied it. Now, Dr. Dre says he wants to continue the surge of success overseas by launching a multiartist tour of Europe.

Pitchfork reports that Dr. Dre wants to “take his ideas” across the pond alongside a coterie of his former students — namely Snoop Dogg, Eminem and relative newcomer Kendrick Lamar. He’d call this ideal tour “Beats and Rhymes.”

“I’m 30 years in the game right now and I’ve never been able to take my full production over to Europe,” Dr. Dre said on his latest show on Beats 1, the Internet radio service. “Me and Snoop — we’ve been over there. Me and Eminem have been over there, but it’s just been spot dates and taking a microphone over there with a DJ. I’ve never had the opportunity to take the full production over there.”

Snoop Dogg, his guest on the show, said that the tour sounded like “Woodstock on steroids” — or “Hoodstock,” he riffed.
