India-South Africa 1st T-20- 3 Players Who Lost India the Match
India lost to South Africa in the First of the three T20 Matches by 7 wickets. The match was evenly poised till major part of the match, but suddenly the match tilted in South Africa’s favour after Akshar Patel went for 3 consecutive sixes.
Earlier, batting first India Scored 199 for the loss of 5 wickets, with Rohit Sharma top scoring with a 66 ball 104. South Afric chased down this total in 19.4 overs with Duminy scoring a match winning 34 ball 68.
Now coming to the main question, who were the 3 Players who lost India the match?. We have made a small aberration by selecting the Umpire Vineet Kulkarni instead of a third player:
Mahendra Dhoni : First by not selecting his best 11 from the available resources. We belive Ajinkya Rahane, Stuart Binny and Harbhajan Singh deserved selection ahead of Ambati Rayudu, Sreenath Arvind and Akshar Patel. India Could not score much in the last 5 overs. Binny and Harbhajan could have helped India get a higher total and their experience would have come handy while defending the total as well. Second, as Captain he went through the motions in the initial six overs and didn’t try to experiment when De Villiers and Amla were going berserk.
Akshar Patel : Though he was not the only bowler who was expensive, but one poor over by him turned the tide of the match at a time when South Africa team was under pressure. One expects a better control on line and length from a left arm spinner. Despite the dew factor, we believe he didn’t show adequate control and hence helped Proteas go off the hook.
Vineet Kulkarni: Vineet Kulkarni undoubtedly had a bad day in the field and made two shocking errors by not giving Duminy out twice though he was plumb Leg before on both the occasions.
We look forward to equally high scoring matches in the coming two T20 matches as well!
