Soundcloud Hires its First CRO to Focus on Profit
SoundCloud, the music and audio-sharing service, has appointed Alison Moore as its chief revenue officer(CRO). SoundCloud is reported to have close to 200 million users.SoundCloud platform helps amateur and semi-professional musicians to upload and share their audio files with each other and with fans. Off late bigger names in the music world also are using the platform.
Soundcloud has been struggling with mounting losses and appointment of Alison Moore as its first chief revenue officer is seen as an attempt by the company to address the profitaility issues.SoundClould posted a loss of nearly $45 million in 2014, compared to a $29 million loss in 2013. The company is looking to raise more capital to stay afloat. In total SoundCloud has raised just under $124 million.
Moore comes from NBC Universal, where she was GM and EVP for TV Everywhere. She has also been associated with HBO and Cablevision in the past.
