UPSC Issues Combined Medical Services 2016 Notification

UPSC has issued the notification for the Combined Medical Services Examination 2016. As per the notification, the exam will be conducted on 12 June 2016.


A candidate must have passed the written and practical parts of the final M.B.B.S. Examination.  A candidate who has appeared or has yet to appear at the final M.B.B.S. Examination may also apply.

Important Dates

Submission of Online Application Form starts from           05 Mar 2016

Last date of submission of Online Application Forms        01 Apr 2016 till 23:59 hours

Availability of e-Admit Card                                                    03 weeks before the exam

Date of Exam                                                                                12 June 2016

Examination Pattern

Computer based examination (500 marks)

Personality test (100 marks)

Part 1 – Computer based examination:

Computer based examination will have two Papers, each of 250 marks. Each Paper will be of two hours duration (120 minutes)              and will carry 250 marks each. The paper 2 will consist of 120 questions based on the given pattern:

General Medicine                                70 Questions     

Paediatrics                                             20 Questions

Surgery                                                   40 Questions     

Gynaecology & Obstetrics                 40 Questions

For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, one third (0.33) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty.

Part 2 – Personality test: 

Personality test carrying 100 marks of such of the candidates who qualify on the results of the Computer based examination
